Today we were up and had my clothes to the laundry by 7:30 in the morning. I FaceTime Mike this morning and got to see Swiffer and him making their seafood supper. I also FaceTime Lynn and Randy and got to show them my room and the view from my balcony. After a short visit with both down to breakfast I went to meet up with Brenda and Garnet and Bev and Jerald. At 9 o’clock our guide Ruby picked us up for a tour of Hoi an old quarter. First, we stopped and rode in the basket boats along a canal through wet coconut palm trees. We got some awesome pics with our oriental hats. After fantastic boat rides, we walked through the old quarters of Hoi an And visited a Japanese bridge and a Chinese pagoda. So much history as these buildings and structures are from the 16th Century. We stopped at a market and saw how they made silk scarves and suits. It was amazing. I had no idea that making silk was such a tedious job. We also walked through a market where we could buy T-shirts, beer cozies, and other souvenirs. If you wanted, the Vietnamese women could make you a jacket, suit, or dress to fit within two hours. It was very interesting to see. After our tour of Hoi An we ventured back to our hotel for swim in the pool, some sun tanning, and drinks (oh the drinks are horrific), beer it is for me or bottle coolers from now on!! LOL Brenda is quite enjoying the Rum and Coke! We had a late lunch that was actually quite good in a local restaurant so have decided we didn’t need dinner, but changed from our swimsuits and took a open taxi Back into the old quarter of Hoi An to see all the streets and rivers filled with bright coloured lanterns of every shape and size! It was absolutely stunning! There were so many people, but it was fun to watch. After another beer at a little pub overlooking the river and street with all the colour lanterns, we took the open taxi back to our hotel, and I am settled in my room now for the night.
