Nov 25-26 From HaLong Bay to Hue to Hoi An

It’s been a whirl wind couple of days. Yesterday morning we woke up on our little ship in HaLong Bay, The paradise sails. We took a small tender boat to the cave I talked about in the last post. We climbed 250 steps into a huge cave where we took amazing pics of HaLong Bay from the top. The path wound through different caves with different elevations, taking about 1 1/2 hours to complete.  Once back on the ship we had breakfast and checked out.  Nam, our guide, picked us up and took us to the airport where we boarded for Hue Vietnam. We had about an hour wait, then boarded our plane and abruptly had to deboard the plane as there was a problem with it. Vietnam airline was very efficient and quickly had us aboard another plane heading to Hue. We were greeted by our new tour guide, Ruby. Before we got to our hotel, we stopped for some more pho soup which again was something that needed to have an acquired taste. LOL Once to our hotel, we were all absolutely amazed by the beauty of it. It’s too bad that we only had one night stay as it is the fanciest hotel I have ever stayed in. It was called the Silk Path Grand Hue hotel. Then this morning, we were up at seven to breakfast by eight and back in our little shuttle van for tour of Hue. We visited the Thien Mu Pagoda and the imperial citadel. We had lunch in a local café and then carried on our way through Danang city and on to our hotel in Hoi An. Our driver hurried us along as the main river in Hue called the perfume river was flooding quickly due to heavy rains yesterday. It was sad to see the  small homes along the river under water. For the next 3 nights, We are staying at another amazing hotel called La Siesta Resort and Spa. Once we checked in, we headed to the poolside bar for happy hour. After a couple of cocktails, Brenda, Garnet and I wandered around the hotel taking some pictures of the beautiful grounds and pools. Bev and Jerald headed to their own room to relax for the evening. Tomorrow is laundry day so we will load up our laundry and take it across the street to a small laundromat where they charge one US dollar per kilogram. Hopefully we get all of our clothes back lol.
